Grayscale announced on Oct. 21, 2026, that eligible investors can contribute digital assets directly in exchange for shares of select products.
On Oct. 21, 2026, Grayscale announced that eligible investors can now contribute digital assets directly in exchange for shares of select Grayscale products, among them its Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and Dogecoin products.
The announcement came in a GlobeNewswire release on Oct. 21, 2026, in which Grayscale said it is giving eligible investors the ability to participate in-kind in select Grayscale products.
Through in-kind, an eligible investor contributes an underlying digital asset directly in exchange for shares of a Grayscale product, rather than selling the asset for cash and making a cash investment.
The shares then stand in for the position in the Grayscale product, and exposure to the underlying asset is kept through them.
Ten Grayscale products were available for in-kind as of Oct. 20, 2026. Eligible investors can use the in-kind route with those products.
Among them are the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF, the Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF, the Grayscale Solana Staking ETF, the Grayscale XRP Trust ETF and the Grayscale Dogecoin Trust ETF.
The Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP and Dogecoin products named above sit within that group, and each gives eligible investors a way to receive shares in return for a direct contribution of the underlying asset.
Clients seeking in-kind subscriptions through the primary market work with an Authorized Participant or another conduit to one.
For clients using the primary market, in-kind subscriptions therefore run through an Authorized Participant or a conduit to one.
In-kind subscriptions are subject to product availability and applicable terms.
Contributing eligible tokens can reduce the operational burden of self-custody and safekeeping and may lower the execution costs of transacting on crypto marketplaces.
The shares may also be eligible for use as margin or collateral, and they can be paired with options to hedge exposure.
For holders of digital assets, in-kind may give a more direct way to move existing positions into traditional investment vehicles while keeping exposure to the underlying asset through shares.
Brokerage or retirement accounts may hold the shares, which can be brought into conventional portfolio management and estate frameworks.
Grayscale welcomes working with eligible investors and their advisors to evaluate whether in-kind suits their circumstances.
Founded in 2013, Grayscale describes its mission as making digital asset investing simpler and open to all investors.
